Is Round Three Between Liddell And Ortiz Necessary?

Are we all just kidding ourselves thinking that this fight between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz is going to be entertaining? Or are we just being pulled in to another overly hyped fight that will end up being a bust?  I’m going to go with the ladder on this one.

After going off on CM Punk I’m sure a lot of people would consider me a “hater,” but I really just don’t see a point to this fight. I’m not one to tell someone what they should or shouldn’t do with their own body, but neither of these guys will be competing for a world title again (unless it’s some underground backyard fighting organization) so why continue to damage your body?

I think it’s also relevant to say that these two aren’t even fighting for any kind of tiebreaker. Liddell and Ortiz have fought twice in the past, With Liddell winning both fights by KO/TKO.

I suppose there is one factor about this fight that interests me; and that’s that these two fighters genuinely dislike each other. I’ve never been a huge fan of the fake trash talk to just boost ticket and pay-per-view sales. I mean I can see why fighters do it, and why owners love it. It’s just never been my thing.

However, when two fighters really dislike each other and have a backstory like Liddell and Ortiz do, that I can get in to. So in a way I am a bit intrigued by the idea of these two fighting. I just can’t imagine it living up to the hype that will be generated by the media.

The two recently had their first staredown at the UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Ortiz did all the trash talking as usual, while the “Iceman” stood there with the same intense glare on his face that he gives all of his opponents. Ortiz at one point even made a crack about Liddell’s mid-section.

No firm date has been set yet for where or when the fight will happen, but it will be under former boxer Oscar De La Hoya’s new MMA organization, Golden Boy Promotions.

“I’m proud to announce we’ve signed a deal for the fight between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz,” De La Hoya said in a statement to ESPN. “This will be huge for sports fans around the world. Ortiz and Liddell are two of the most recognized fighters in MMA history. They are legends in the sport.

Many people think that the third and final fight between these two former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions will go to “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.” I suppose I can’t argue much with those people considering that Liddell has lost his last three fights by way of knockout, and hasn’t fought since June 2010. Ortiz on the other hand has won three out of his last four fights, and has fought recently.

All that being said, I still feel that Ortiz will be sleeping at the end of this fight. It’s not because I’ve always been a fan of Liddell’s, or because I just feel that Liddell is a bad matchup for Ortiz; which I am a big fan, and I do think he’s a bad matchup for Ortiz. Ultimately, I give Liddell the edge because Ortiz is afraid of Liddell and always has been; and Liddell knows it.

So, is this fight really worth seeing? I guess I remain uncertain at the moment. I don’t feel as though either of these two fighters have anything to gain from this fight, considering the fact that Liddell is 48-years- old and Ortiz is 43. Contrary to popular belief age is not just a number. It’s a real statistic, and the amount of damage that these two have already taken in their careers will only age them further.

With that said I will most likely tune in for this one, because despite wither this fight really means something or not, it’ still always nice to see Ortiz get knocked out.

  1. If job safety is excessive on your list of priorities,
that is another issue thats not supplied by freelancing. Many individuals need to be assured of regular
income, at a price that they can count on, with the intention to preserve
their payments and on a regular basis residing bills as much as
date. Freelancing will not present the job and income safety
that youd have from being on the employees of a law firm.

  3. You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation but I to find this matter to be actually something that I feel I’d by no means understand. It seems too complicated and very wide for me. I’m having a look ahead in your next post, I?¦ll attempt to get the hang of it!

  4. Eu não sou muito de ler on-line devo ser honesto, mas seu blog é muito bom, continue assim!
Vou continuar vendo outros sites, mas marquei seu
